I had these cabinets in my childhood home! These look exactly the same! You can tell they were formally painted most likely white and were stripped down to the bare wood. Which accounts for the streaks in the wood. The manufacturer of the cabinets wouldn’t have used this type of wood for stained cabinets only painted cabinets. The black iron hardware looks original and looks GREAT on white. If you want to restore the original look I’d recommend painting the cabinets white again (prime them first) and either reuse the hardware or buy new , either modern black or perhaps glass or brass. Great house! Congrats!
